IMPORTANT NOTICE! Snip Vasectomy Clinic was subject to a cyber hack of its email system on 18th August 2021

Important note for Snip Customers

Snip Vasectomy Clinic was subject to a cyber hack of its email system on 18th August 2021. As a result the email address book of our reception email ([email protected]) was breached and phishing emails have been sent to contacts in the email directory. These emails have been sent to all contacts and are not limited (or identified to) patients of the clinic.

To be clear, the breach obtained our email contact list. It did not access any email content.

Please ignore any emails from our clinic that are unsolicited and appear suspicious, especially those containing attachments and offering refunds.

We would like to assure you that our IT system was immediately repaired and upgraded to block future attacks. In addition, our patient medical records system, which is separate from our email system, was not compromised.

Unfortunately, although the breach was fixed on the 18th of August, the hackers have continued to email contacts in the address book now using the fraudulent email address [email protected]

We take our IT security very seriously and have an ongoing partnership with an external IT provider to assist with this. Our systems had been audited by external IT specialists within the last 3 months. Unfortunately, the area exposed by the hackers had not been identified in this previous audit.

We have reported the breach with the Privacy Commissioner and CERT NZ.

We are truly sorry for the inconvenience and reassure you that your privacy and confidentiality is extremely important to us.

What to avoid after vasectomy

  • Strenuous exercise including, running, lifting weights, and playing sport
  • Physically demanding work
  • Swimming in a pool, spa, or the ocean
  • Taking a bath (showers are okay)
  • Unprotected sex (until you have the all clear). You can continue sexual activities at any time provided you use contraception

What next.

Once recovered, you’ll be glad to know that life will go on exactly as before (minus the worries!). To ensure you are shooting blanks we will remind you to test three months after your procedure. Once you have been given the all clear you are good to go, but until then contraception is a must!
